Services for Children, Adolescents, and Families in Ottawa

Family-centered care in a supportive environment
We offer psychological services and psychotherapy for children and adolescents, and we also work with parents and families.

Psychoeducational Assessment

We provide learning and school assessments to help children and teens understand their areas of strength and difficulty. The psychologist will work with the youth and their parents to examine their learning strengths and difficulties using standardized tests, questionnaires, and interviews.

Common questions include:

  • learning disability;
  • attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD);
  • intellectual disability; and
  • giftedness.

An assessment can help to better understand a child’s learning profile, providing information that can be used by parents and classroom teachers to help them succeed.

Autism Services

Autism Assessment

We provide developmental assessments for children and adolescents who are suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We use evidence-based assessment procedures and tools, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2).

Parent Consultation

We offer consultation sessions for parents of children with ASD.

After receiving a new diagnosis – Receiving a new ASD diagnosis can be difficult for a child and for their family, and we can work with parents to help process and understand this information. We can also work with parents to co-develop concrete strategies for supporting their children following an ASD diagnosis.

Therapy

We offer evidence-based psychotherapy for children and adolescents who present with a range of concerns, including anxiety, mood difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Currently, psychotherapy services are provided by Véronique Woychuk, Registered Psychotherapist. To learn more about Véronique's approach to therapy, click here.
